About Our Service
General Claims Fund LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides unclaimed property recovery services. We help individuals identify and recover unclaimed property held by the State of California. We are not a government agency. This service has not been approved or endorsed by any governmental agency.
Free Alternative
You can claim your unclaimed property for free directly from the California State Controller's Office at claimit.ca.gov or by calling (800) 992-4647. Our service is entirely optional. By using our service, you acknowledge that you are aware of this free alternative.
Fee Structure
Our fee is 10% of the net value of property successfully recovered on your behalf, which is the maximum fee permitted under California law (Civil Code Section 1582). No upfront fees are charged. The fee is contingent upon successful recovery — if your claim is not approved, you owe nothing. Upon successful recovery, the State of California issues two separate checks: one to you for your portion, and one to us for our fee.
Investigator Agreement
By completing the claim process on our portal, you will be asked to review and electronically sign a Standard Investigator Agreement as required by the California State Controller's Office. This agreement authorizes us to act on your behalf in filing your claim. The agreement is valid for 12 months from the date of your signature.
Accuracy of Information
You agree to provide accurate and truthful information when using our portal. Providing false information may result in your claim being denied by the State Controller's Office. We are not responsible for claims denied due to inaccurate information provided by you.
No Guarantee of Recovery
While we make every effort to file your claim accurately and completely, we cannot guarantee that the State Controller's Office will approve your claim. Claim approval is at the sole discretion of the State of California. If your claim is denied, you owe us nothing.
